odeon. art 6 – The Japanese Culture Days was held from May 28th to June 2nd, 2012
The festival was organized with the support of Siglo Co.Ltd, Japan and Cultural Roots Association (ARC) in partnership with the Embassy of Japan, Romanian-Japanese Studies Centre (RJSC), Chamber of Commerce and Industry Romania – Japan (CCIRJ) and Haramichi-Ro.
The event brought together Japanese artists living in Japan, or practicing beyond the borders of the Land of the Rising Sun and also local specialists and lovers of Japanese culture. It included photo-haiku, calligraphy, kimono, origami and Japanese objects exhibitions, a parade of kimonos, a Taiko drum concert, a lecture on sacred dances Kagura delivered by PhD professor Angela Hondru, two ikebana demonstrations held by maestro Tenkei Nomura (Paris) and Sanda Lazur, Sogetsu school specialist. The odeon.art 6 program also included: a Japanese theatre performance (The Carp and The Bus Station) presented by Theatre Company 1980 from Tokyo, a dance show entitled Colors of the Company Drastic Danse 0, a piano recital and dance called WA (Harmony), Dojo-ji, an unprecedented show of mime in unconventional technique retelling classical plays, a reading performance of the play Courier for Hell by Monzaemon Chikamatsu, followed by a lecture on Japanese theatre delivered by Akihiko Senda, theatre critic.
